Feliz told me that she actually found my blog today while doing legal research. does that make me an official legal site now. god i hope not. school goes on and on and on. only three weeks til the start of finals, and i am not sure if i know any more now then i did at the beginning of the semester or not. but i shall muddle through somehow. had just about forgotten about the blog until it was mentioned to me today, so i thought it might be a good call to update a little. FYI, i am alive and if not well, then at least whole. law school is high school, and sometimes people start to get on my nerves. that is the problem with spending so much time with so few people. speaking of high school, have a new project for my RA position. hazing in high school. this is another really fun one, as the prof wants to focus on sexual hazing type stuff, and of course because of the ages of the people involved there can be no studies on that for various legal reasons. but some of the court cases are really interesting. it is amazing that, with all the resources and imagination that kids have today, that they just can't be a little more creative. it is like there is a handbook "how to haze" and no one deviates from it. almost like a checklist. sodomize with a broom/mop/baseball bat, check. urinate on victim, check. i mean really, get creative kids!! have to go study for evidence quiz. West Wing tonight. oh, BTW, the west wing first season came out on DVD yeaterday. a hem.... hint..... :)

in a rush of bizarre decisions this week the Supreme Court decided that affirmative actions was ok in law schools but not undergrad in michigan, and that gay men could finally have legal sex in texas. the reasoning behind texas was not equla protection as everyone suspected it might, but right to privacy. so at last the government has gotten out of the bedroom (in texas at least). now if it could only turn its atention to some places that it really needs to be. like americorps (massive budget cuts, after a promise for an expanded budget. way to go W.) or perhaps in americas schools (increased testing and expectations but no money to do this, another classic). people keep saying that tax cuts are a good thing, but when i look at good ol' but who failed worst. god i love the curve. we all came out of the fial gibbering and asking each other if we wanted fries with that. not a good sign. but that is over, and i have two weeks of comparative break beofre summer classes start. i say comparative because of my job working for professor young. i have come to the startling realizxation that this whole porject would be easier if they just siad we have nothing, find out everything. instead, they handed me 'the archive' which is the most disorganized bunch of non-information that i have ever come across (except for, perhaps, my resumee). so i am trying to make sense of 40 years worth of ass kissing letters, newspaper articles, and other stuff of the like. ahhhh.... no rest for the weary. <div while not conflicting too much with classes. fingers crossed. the only down side is that if i get it i will be unable to go home after finals :( . the world seems in better shape then the lsect In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.

- Hundred Years War: Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman."

-Italian Wars: Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.

- Wars of Religion: France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots

- Thirty Years War: France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her.

- War of Devolution: Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.

-The Dutch War: Tied

-War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War: Lost, but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Frogophiles the world over to label the period as the height of French military power.

-War of the Spanish Succession: Lost. The War also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.

- American Revolution: In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."

- French Revolution: Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.

- The Napoleonic Wars: Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.

- The Franco-Prussian War: Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

- World War I: Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States. Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.

-World War II: Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.

- War in Indochina: Lost. French forces plead sickness, take to bed with the Dien Bien Flu

- Algerian Rebellion: Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a western army by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare; "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.

- War on Terrorism: France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.

SO why do we need France?

Anyways, nothing really going on here.... have to run and create a false record of events that only happened in a ficticious account so that the lawsuit that is pending over them can proceed. does anyone else see an ethical problem with this?

silly song from christopher

To the tune of "If you're happy and you know it ..."

If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets are a drama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are frisky,
Pakistan is looking shifty,
North Korea is too risky,
Bomb Iraq.

If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq.
If we think someone has dissed us, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.

It's "pre-emptive non-aggression", bomb Iraq.
Let's prevent this mass destruction, bomb Iraq.
They've got weapons we can't see,
And that's good enough for me
'Cos it's all the proof I need
Bomb Iraq.

If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam's gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
(And he tried to kill your dad),
Bomb Iraq.

If your corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And hiding that ain't easy,
And your manhood's getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.

Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq.
For our might knows not our borders, bomb Iraq.
Disagree? John is one of those people who should be, for the good of society, either heavily anesthesized or put in a cage. he is always moving (generally in a very quick manner away from Ada's finest) and always in good humor, but he is definately more of a force than a person. anyways..... hopefully this week will end on a successful note.... have judgement entry hearings today and then just two classes tomorrow, but we also have to get our interrogatoires finished pretty soon for Civ Pro, as well as fabricate a whole SHITLOAD of documents to give to the other side. technically unethical, but when the whole case is based on something that never happened, we feel that we have a little bit of leeway. the crash of the columbia on saturday brought to mind another crash many years ago..... where were you when the challenger went down? for some odd reason i remember being at Roxboro, but that is not possible since it happened in 86 and i would have been in Bear road at the time. in second grade if my math is right (ok, graduated in 96, which would ahve been twelth grade minus ten is second, right?) maybe a field trip...... who knows...... did some other tragedy happen when i was at roxboro that is supplanting this? anyways, must run to property class and make a fool of myself. woo hoo

finally managed to get to the school to do the whole street law thing. the teacher in charge is really kinda cool.... and very sneaky. we asked the kids intially who was going to participate in the competition, and only one person raised their hand. then the prof asked who was going on a field trip to the court house tomorrow, and ten raised their hands. prof is a sneaky bastard..... fine print on the bottom of the permission slip stated that by attending this field trip they were committing to participating in the street law competition. kids complained... prof said that this was their first lesson in the law.... read everything. so we have a team of ten (somewhat unwilling) participants and a teacher who thinks the program is the best thing in the whole world. this should be interesting. on a different note, today in civ pro class we had our motions hearing, in which i managed to make a total fool of myself. well if you are going to do something wrong, may as well do it right i guess. you know what i mean. out amended complaint had a whole bunch of typos (the most notable being the word amended) and was also not signed. fortunately the prof has a good sense of humor and didn't totally kill us. BUZZZZZZZZZZ. have to write a responsive pleading or something like that tonight to hand in tomorrow (ACCEPT, ACCEPT, HUH?, DENY, DENY, HUH?, DENY, HUH?.......) along with a counter claim (oh yeah, well you did this so ttttbbbbbppppppp.) which should just be totally thrilling. yippie!!! just found out that the interrogatories are not due for a long time yet. have to run to Lima and make my cell phone work again. stupid thing has been broken, and it kinda sucks since i do not have a land line. oh well.

all i wanted to do when i got home was come back to ada, now that i am here.... I WANNA GO HOME!!!! actually it is not all that bad. right now i have to do all my part of the class trial, and since the people that did the last part did a really crappy job at it, my part is a lot harder. what am i doing? discovery, which means i have to some up with all sorts of documents and actually depose someone on wednesday!!! in front of the class. now is it just me or does that sound kinda dirty? fortunately enough, the other side has no idea what is going on either, so this has actually been a somewhat plesant thing. instead of us all fighting about what sould be admissable and what shouldn't be, we are all looking at each other going "you know anything? nope... do you?" somehow this is not what real life court stuff is like (generally people in real trials have actually met their clients) but i guess it is an easy way into it. Street law starts in a little while (Kara you would love this thing). besically what happens is that a bunch of teams of law students go into different high schools and work with a class on basic civil procedure and law stuff, and at the end of the whole thing there is a trial competition, and which ever teams highschool wins gets bragging rights. should be fun, but apparently only first years signed up for it this year, and that could be tricky as none of us really know what is going on. life goes on..... i have to run and meet with my deposition team (myself, anne, and amber.... the dream team)

back to the drudgery of classes again.... though it looks like this is going to be a very full, but interesting semester. have to run and get the rest of my books eventually, but i am thinking that is something that can wait for a few more minutes at least. i mean the class isn't til tomorrow morning. :) it was so good to get back to the apartment (dubbed the den of incapability) and see my fellow law-bags. anyways, homework beckons.

how fun are holidays? just think i am in the middle of three whole weeks where i really don't have to do anything. oh, except for work, and do homework, and make all the obligatory visits to friends and family. ok, holidays suck. :) but who is the queen of contracts? that would be me. not only did i pass the class i was certain that i would fail, bt i did so with a B+, thus beating the C curve by a whole bunch of marks. Veltri, muttering to himself about how the lack of personal volition lead to the downfall of the republic tries to knock the cup out of the bum's hand. unfortunatley his depth perception is not what it should be and he catches the string of the sign, jerking the guys head forward with a sickening snap.
